Talking to the Mirror, he said: ‘I don’t want a splashy magazine wedding with celebrities. I’d rather just do it as a couple, keeping it to the people we know and love and trust.’

The pair have been an item for nearly two years and live together in Craig’s Hampshire mansion.

‘All our friends are asking, “Are you going to get married?” But I’m far too busy next year,’ the Strictly judge added.

‘One day though – Jonathan is my soulmate, he’s the man I want to be with for the rest of my life.’

Keen to shake off his ‘Mr Nasty’ image, Craig added that he would prefer if any proposal was a ‘funny one’ – possibly even while crushing grapes in their vineyard.

The judge also recently revealed he and Jonathan have discussed having children in the future.

The Strictly Come Dancing star revealed his role as Miss Hannigan in the UK touring production of Annie has got him thinking about what it would be like to start a family.

He told The Sun: ‘There are so many children out there just like in Annie, who are orphaned for whatever reason and they just need a loving family.

‘But I am waiting to see how our relationship develops and if it’s solid enough and a good base to bring children into it. It certainly needs a lot of planning.

‘You are under great scrutiny when you are adopting, more so than natural parents. There are a lot of interviews, screenings etc.’

The admission seems to mark a change of heart for Craig who previously said he didn’t think he would have children.

When discussing his relationship with Jonathan in November 2018, the dancer said the couple will get married but thought having children would be a ‘step too far’.
